MY MISSION

Welcome to Tom Day Mentor!

My mission is to support young people who are struggling with ADHD, behavioural challenges, or difficulties in education and everyday life. I understand these experiences on a personal level, having faced many of the same challenges myself as a neurodivergent young man. What makes my approach unique is the combination of lived experience and professional training: I have been where many of my mentees find themselves, and I have worked hard to turn those experiences into strength, resilience, and direction. Now, I use that perspective—alongside proven strategies and qualifications—to help young people not only cope with their challenges but build the skills, confidence, and mindset needed to thrive.

MY PROCESS

1-

Free

Consultation

The process begins with a free Zoom call with parents or guardians to discuss the child’s needs, session logistics, and goals. This helps establish trust, align expectations, and ensure the mentoring process is tailored to the individual.

2-

Introductory

Session

In this first session, I meet with the young person to build rapport and establish a connection. It’s a chance to understand their perspective, ensure they feel comfortable, and assess their openness to the process.

3-

Individualized Action Plan

Using insights from our initial meetings, I create a tailored plan based on the young person’s needs, interests, and potential. This flexible plan sets clear goals and outlines the steps needed to achieve them.

4-

Session

Rollout

Sessions are delivered in structured blocks, focusing on specific goals such as self-control or building resilience. Progress is regularly reviewed, and each block builds on the previous one to support lasting growth.

5-

Feedback &

Support

Parents or guardians are kept involved through regular updates and Zoom check-ins. Their insights help guide the process, ensuring progress aligns with goals and everyone is satisfied with the outcomes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to Common Questions About My Mentoring Services

What ages do you work with?

I primarily work with young men under the age of 18 who are struggling with

mental health challenges, ADHD, or a lack of direction and purpose.

What qualifications do you have to mentor young people?

I hold Level 2 Youth Mental Health and Level 3 Adverse Childhood Experience certifications, along with Child Safeguarding (Level 2) and Keeping Children Safe in Education (Level 1). I’m Enhanced DBS certified and have extensive first-hand experience living with combined ADHD, which helps me relate to and support young people on a deeper level.

Beyond formal training, I’ve worked as an SEMH youth mentor across educational units in the South West, and have collaborated with organisations such as Empire Fighting Chance and Lexia Educational Services in Bristol. My background as a Weston Counties Boxing Champion and top-ranked UK boxer, with wins in both international and domestic competitions, allows me to bring discipline, resilience, and motivation into my mentoring approach.

What does the mentoring process look like?

The process begins with a free consultation to understand the specific needs of

the young person. From there, we work together to create a tailored action plan,

followed by a series of structured sessions aimed at addressing specific areas of

development. Regular feedback from parents and guardians ensures we stay on

track.

How long does the mentoring process last?

The duration of the process can vary depending on the individual’s needs and

goals. Typically, we work in blocks of 6-8 weeks, with ongoing reviews to adjust

the approach as needed.

Can parents be involved in the mentoring process?

Yes, I encourage active involvement from parents or guardians. Regular

feedback and open communication are key to ensuring the process is successful.

Parents often provide valuable insights, and we’ll schedule check-ins to keep

them updated on progress.

What makes your mentoring approach different from others?

My approach is built on my own lived experiences as a neurodivergent young

man who has faced similar challenges. I combine this with professional training

and practical strategies tailored to each individual’s needs, creating a personal

and effective approach that truly resonates.

How do I know if mentoring will be right for my child?

The free consultation is an excellent opportunity to discuss your child’s needs,

and together we can determine if mentoring is the right fit. The first few sessions

also help assess the young person’s engagement and the potential for growth.

What happens if my child doesn’t engage with the mentoring

process?

If a young person is hesitant or resistant at first, I take time to understand their

concerns and adjust my approach to meet them where they are. Building trust

and rapport is key, and we’ll work together to find a way forward.

How much does the mentoring program cost?

Pricing details can be provided during the consultation, and I offer different

packages based on the length and intensity of the sessions.

Is there any flexibility in scheduling sessions?

Yes, I understand that flexibility is important. We’ll discuss the best days and

times for sessions based on your child’s schedule and commitments, things

come up and i am more than happy to rearange sessions on occasion if given

ample pre-warning.

Any Further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
